2012 | Mercedes-Benz | SLS AMG Coupe 2D
4132 miles | $199,500 – $220,500
Listing Period Ends:
This rare Mercedes will delight any aficionado of German cars. The beautiful, gull-winged coupe is one of only 92 in this color imported to the United States in 2012. (2721 total US sales of the SLS AMG, 1830 total US sales of the SLS AMG coupes, and 5% of buyers opted for the option of $12,750 extra for the 'liquid metal' ALU-BEAM Silver paint, which required a 7-layer, hand applied paint process.) This model is also the first AMG sports car to be made entirely by AMG, without the involvement of Mercedes-Benz. The naturally aspirated 8-cylinder engine is incredibly capable, and makes the car an absolute blast to drive. The honor of owning this piece of automotive history is a privilege I take very seriously. I have gone to great lengths to keep the car in pristine condition, including applying a ceramic coating and paint protection film to the entire vehicle. The mileage is very low and it has never been exposed to rain, leaving it primed to become the crown jewel of your car collection. Exceedingly rare, low milage 2012 Alubeam Mercedes SLS AMG. The tires were replaced in April 2020. A full-car ceramic application has been performed with the System X Diamond ceramic coating, which has a transferrable, 7-year warranty. The vehicle has also had 3M PPF application, done by my local dealership in June of 2019. All inspections welcome. Title is free, clear, and in hand. Always housed in a climate controlled garage. No stories on this two owner, low mileage car.

- Exterior Description/Details:
This car is fully aware of its own uniqueness, and the unapologetic exterior is certain to please a wide variety of car fans. The lopsided design brilliantly highlights the best parts of the car, as the engine-forward silhouette makes it look like a German version of a Dodge Viper. And the short rear side ensures that all eyes stay on the gullwings when they open. The silver paint is a special “liquid metal” finish option that was applied by hand in seven layers, making the car even more of a collectible. The low-seated cabin keeps you close to the road, allowing you to feel every powerful vibration of the V-8 under the hood.

- Interior Description/Details:
Watching the gullwing doors elegantly open to reveal this cherry red interior is like unwrapping a present. The playfully bright color scheme is unexpected, given the car’s more understated exterior, but the contradiction feels appropriate. After all, this is a sophisticated Mercedes-Benz with a racecar-quality engine. The red leather, dual-power racing seats manage to be comfortable and supportive while putting you in a racing mindset. The bright red causes the brushed metal elements to stand out, the contrast allowing each piece to look better than it would alone. In the end, this car indulges in some touches of whimsy without ever cheapening itself. The interior puts a smile on your face, but it is certain to age gracefully as well. Note that the car has not had airbags replaced; the car is a collectible so I did not want to risk destroying the dash by replacing the airbags. Its eligible for the recall, however, if the new owner elects to have the work done at a Mercedes dealership.

- Engine Description/Details: The front-mounted M159 is a 6.3 liter, 8-cylinder engine inspired by the finest G3 racers. The naturally aspirated engine produces 563 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque, but the car handles smoothly enough to be a daily driver as well. For those who want to experience the nearly-200MPH top speeds, the use of a dry-sump lubrication system lowers the car’s center of gravity to increase your downforce. A paddle-shifted, seven-speed automatic transmission makes controlling this rear-wheel-drive car a breeze, whether you are drag racing or running errands.
Quirks and Secrets
The airbags have not been replaced, as this car is a collectible and I have heard that replacing them can destroy the dash. That said, it is eligible for the recall if you want them replaced at your local Mercedes-Benz dealership.
