  • Exterior Description/Details:

The Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2 takes the less-is-more approach to Huracan ownership. It gets the same aluminum and carbon fiber construction from its cousin, the Audi R8, and loses the all-wheel drive setup, but the rear-wheel drive version is for the professional driver on a closed course who isn’t afraid to, say, turn off the electronic nannies and slide the back end out a bit. This highly-optioned LP 580-2 Spyder is finished in Bianco Monocerus with a black convertible top, powder-coated 19” wheels, red brake calipers, and the Style Package, which added high gloss black to the windshield frame, front fascia, exhaust pipes, side grilles, and rear lower grilles. The optional Technology Package improves everyday drivability by adding a front suspension lifting system along with front and rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, presumably so you can see how much of your tires have just melted into the pavement.

The interior is covered in Unicolor Sportivo Alcantara and leather in Nero Ade with red contrasting stitching on the seats, dash, and center tunnel, while the Branding Package adds Lamborghini logos to the headrests and and dash. The multifunction steering wheel allows the driver to switch between drive modes, while a configurable 12.3-inch with integrated navigation and bluetooth compatibility is just beyond the those paddle shifters. And just in case the exterior design or the rows of fighter jet-inspired switches in the center stack didn't give it away, lifting the red cover to the engine start/stop button should drive the point home: this weapon is armed.

  • Engine Description/Details: LP stands for Longitudinale Posteriore, referring to the 5.2-liter V10 being situated in the mid-rear of the car. It is carried over from its predecessor, the Gallardo, and was factory-rated at 571 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. That power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with 0-60 happening in 3.6 seconds on its way to a top speed of 199. The engineers also retuned the suspension, stability control, and steering to accommodate the two-fewer drive wheels, so whether you’re in Strada, Sport, or Corsa drive modes, this LP 580-2 Spyder should provide plenty of entertainment… until the rear tires need replacing.
