The SL63 AMG bridges AMG's two great V8 eras in one nameplate: the high-revving 6.2-liter M156 in the R230 through 2012, then the 5.5-liter biturbo M157 in the lighter R231 from 2013. Both use the MCT seven-speed with its direct, clutch-pack character. The R231 car cut substantial weight thanks to its largely aluminum structure while gaining torque everywhere it counts.
