The 997-generation Targa 4 used a sliding glass roof and glass hatch rather than the removable panel of the original, giving the 911 a light-filled cabin with all-wheel-drive security underneath. It was built only in all-wheel-drive form, with the wider rear body that entails. These cars mark the end of the glass-roof Targa concept before the 991 revived the classic hoop.
