The Venom GT is John Hennessey's first-principles hypercar: a stretched Lotus Exige tub carrying a 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 rated at 1,244 hp, with a six-speed manual and very little between driver and output. It was built in Sealy, Texas between 2011 and 2017 in a run of roughly a dozen cars. Its 270.49 mph pass at the Kennedy Space Center in 2014 made it, for a time, the fastest car ever to wear a license plate.
