The Cayman S has been the sweet spot of the coupe range through three generations: the 3.4-liter sixes of the 987.2 and 981, then the 350 hp turbocharged 2.5-liter that arrived with the 718 in 2017. Bigger brakes and a broader powerband come with the badge, and the mid-engine chassis takes all of it in stride. It is the Cayman most owners actually cross-shop against a 911.
