The 720S opened McLaren's second-generation Super Series in 2017 with the new M840T 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 at 710 hp and the Monocage II carbon structure. Its straight-line performance embarrassed cars a class above, a point period road tests made repeatedly. Coupe and Spider ran through 2022 before the 750S evolution replaced it.
