The M2 is the car enthusiasts kept asking BMW M to build: compact, rear-driven, and honest. The original F87 used a 365-hp version of the N55 inline-six; the current G87 carries the M3's S58 twin-turbo six and remains one of the last new performance cars sold with a manual gearbox. Across both generations it has been the purist's entry point into M ownership.
